John Asaro was born in San Diego, California on February 28, 1937. He was inspired by the works of Rembrandt, Rubens, Monet, Sargent, Sorolla, Matisse and. Bonnard.

He studied with:

  • Donald Hord, San Diego, (1952-1955)
  • The Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California. (1955-1957, 1959)
  • Frank Reilly at the Art Students League, New York City (1958-1959)
  • Architecture at the Southern California Institute of Architecture, Santa Monica, California.

He has won several awards including:

  • The Optimist Prize, San Diego County Fair, 1947, 1948
  • Award of Excellence, New York Illustrator's Club 1968
  • Stanley Reckless Memorial Scholarship, 1974
  • Allied Artists of America, 1981
  • American Water Color Society, 1985

His teaching credentials include:

  • The Scottsdale Artists School, Scottsdale, Arizona
  • Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, California
  • Laguna Beach School of Art and Design, Laguna Beach, California
  • Palomar College, San Marcos, California.

John Asaros work has been featured in numerous gallery shows and private and corporate collections across the country.
